A new opportunity for a Professional Indemnity Solicitor has become available with a fortune 500 company with an international presence. This firm, with over 60 offices across the world, is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business, offering services to both insured and non-insured clients.

They are looking to hire an accomplished lawyer to join their Civil Litigation team based in Leeds, this is predominantly an office-based position, with the option to work one day a week from home.

At present, the team comprises of 4 fee earners and is part of the firm’s wider Civil Litigation department, which currently includes 14 fee earners and 3 legal administrators. The team was ranked in Tier 2 in the Legal 500 for both 2023 and 2024.

Instructions cover the full range of covers but focus primarily on professional liability and management liability (D&O). There is a significant amount of coverage work. Disputes range from small claims to £multi-million disputes. Key professional risks include construction professionals, electrical and other specialist building service contractors, accountants, technology professionals, care practitioners and social welfare/not for profit organisations.

The successful candidate will have previous legal insurance experience and knowledge of legal/insurance relationships and their interaction. That experience will ideally arise from dealing with professional indemnity insurance claims (preferably from a defendant’s perspective). The candidate may well come from an established insurance-focused firm or team.

You will have previous experience of dealing with a wide range of disputes in the construction sector, including knowledge of the pre-action protocol for construction and engineering disputes and TCC procedure, with an understanding of the technical nature of such disputes or have previous experience of dealing with disputes involving professionals in the technology and media sectors, with an understanding of the technical nature of such disputes.
