We are a growing team, expanding across the region with offices in Sheffield, York and Hull and we are now looking for a Litigation Assistant to join us in our Hull Office.

You’ll be joining a team of like-minded individuals passionate about ensuring those who have suffered life-changing injuries, through no fault of their own, receive the compensation they deserve in order to lead a more independent life.

Your role will involve but is not limited to:
1. Assisting in the progression of a senior fee-earners’ clinical negligence caseloads.
2. Speaking to prospective new clients taking full details of their enquiry, helping with medical research and assisting the senior fee-earners with screening new enquiries.
3. When sufficiently progressed, taking on a small caseload, to be built up over time, with full supervision and support.

Key tasks:
1. Arranging conferences upon request and attending them to take comprehensive attendance notes.
2. Communicating with fee earners and clients to keep all parties up to date on developments in the case.
3. To act as a telephonist/receptionist in the absence of a receptionist.
4. Caseload work on complaints and claims covering the whole litigation process.
5. To take it in turns with the other litigation assistants to act as telephonist/receptionist in the absence of our Receptionist.
6. File openings in relation to new cases.
7. Organisation & general upkeep of office environment.
8. To maintain a daily tasks list and a weekly training record, if required, in accordance with training progression.
9. Production of webpages (with guidance and support) as and when necessary on different medico-legal issues (occasionally-group effort on this throughout the team!)
10. Maintenance/upkeep of the Expert Register, as required.
11. Other tasks as required by the Fee Earner/Director.

• A pro-active, can-do approach – take a forward-thinking approach in everything you do.
• You should be a team player.
• Highly proficient in both spoken and written English.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience of working in a similar role within a legal environment is essential.
