Commercial Solicitor/Partner, 3 Years + PQE (or equivalent experience)

Eaton Smith LLP are looking for a Commercial Lawyer (minimum of 3 years PQE through to Partner level) to join our friendly, award-winning Commercial Team.

The projects we are involved in are truly wide-ranging and cover both national and international activities. You may be involved in drafting or advising on terms and conditions of sale/purchase (both B2B and B2C), long term supply agreements, distribution/agency agreements, consultancy agreements, software agreements (including SaaS), intellectual property issues, website terms and conditions, privacy policies or advising on proposed marketing initiatives. We cover many sectors including technology, engineering, manufacturing, ecommerce and medical devices. Many of our clients trade internationally and so knowledge of Incoterms and other issues relating to international contracts would be advantageous.

Alongside our traditional Commercial law activities, we are also multi-award winning in the video games sector, with clients ranging from UK and international publishers and developers to art studios and composers. We cover PC and console games (and occasionally mobile), counting Minecraft and Roblox developers amongst our clients, as well as advising on everything from AAA games development to indie. Studio start ups, IP transfers, music agreements, development agreements, publishing agreements and prize promotions are just some of the activities involved in this work. Working on legal issues in the games sector will be a central part of the role and so good knowledge of intellectual property and software will be an advantage. Whilst training will be given, a knowledge of (or indeed a passion for) video games themselves would be helpful. Attending industry events and delivering talks will be part of the role.

The Commercial Team also on occasion provides assistance on Corporate transactions, assisting with (amongst other things) due diligence exercises and the preparation of paperwork connected with commercial aspects of transactions. For that reason, transactional experience would be an advantage.

We think our clients are the best in the world. In many cases, they literally are the best in the world in their fields. If you would like to come in for a chat and to meet some of the team, please call Jonathan Clegg (Head of HR) on telephone number 01484 821311 for more information and to discuss this role in confidence. Alternatively, please email your CV and cover letter to
